Who is Mark N?

* former DMC Champion DJ of Australia
* founder of the seminal Australian hardcore electronic label BLOODY FIST RECORDS
* 1/3 of NASENBLUTEN (Industrial Strength)
* DJ'ing hard dnb, hardcore, breakcore, and who knows what else, all on vinyl & dubplate (no Ableton or Serato).
* First US show dates in 10 years

LARGE HADRON COLLIDAH!

I've been inspired by this machine. The Large Hadron Collider is the most amazing feat of research engineering ever devised, made to smash particles together at near-light-speed. If the best case scenario happens, we may observe the higgs boson "god particle" and change our understanding of time and space forever; but if the worse case happens, a black hole could open, or strangelets can come pouring out.

I like it because the stakes are so high. Nuclear technology is so last millennium - our technology is quantum. The atom bomb is a tiny fart of a disaster compared to our black holes.

September 10th is the official launch date!

Recompression to Decompression
is now complete
and it was absolutely amazing!

Recompression
aka Quantum Tekno Dojo Disco Glitchin Dance Party
was the first Vermin Street / SMGU event that I played lead organizer in.
Memory9 performed at the peak of the night.
There was a really nice chill room by Metacymatic and incredible lighting by Sean Stevens.
There were bubbles and lights and lots of love.

Firefly
Firefly was a burst of exactly the right energy in exactly the right spot at exactly the right time.

Vermin Street Records performed atop a wall of light and sound and bass frequencies.

My sister came from Alaska.

Everybody danced and writhed in what we had created together.

Zebbler Encanti Experience performed in the center of the 3x3 scaffolding at Spank My Glitch Up with surround sound and three projections on the morning of July 6th. It was unbelievably epic and well documented.

Hopefully we'll get around to chopping up and uploading the video footage, but until then, please check out pictures of Firefly 2008.

Decompression
started as a renegade burner bbq and turned in to a full on tech-psy-house indoor event.
Zebbler installed a projection installation of a Max Headroom face.
Everyone lamented the passing of an another amazing experience with one another.

2008 Equinox - Solstice Encanti Performances

Firefly marks a special time of year for me - it's the romantic climax of my performance calender two summers in a row. This year's Firefly, residing in the woods of Vermont over July 4th weekend (in such a beautiful place that my heart will break to leave), I will be performing a three-screen surround sound dance/healing set with Zebbler at 3am on Saturday night. I am extremely looking forward to the penultimate epicness that will insue on that weekend! The experience of Firefly is exceptionally refreshing and overall wonderful.

The first half of 2xx8 has been magical.

what is GLITCH ?

Glitch is exactly what you need it to be
exactly when you didn't expect it to be what you wanted it to be.

But these definitions are also true:

glitch (noun)
1. A minor malfunction, mishap, or technical problem; a snag: a computer glitch; a navigational glitch; a glitch in the negotiations.
2. A false or spurious electronic signal caused by a brief, unwanted surge of electric power.
3. Astronomy A sudden change in the period of rotation of a neutron star.

Wiki Glitch and you get a poorly-cited article that says that glitch is "is a genre of electronic music that became popular in the late 1990s with the increasing use of digital signal processing, particularly on computers."

Glitch! is also a funky movie with playboy playmates that I've never seen. It looks really weird though so someones got to rent that and tell me how it is.

But we all know best...

Glitch is a boston-based video production collective.

These guys are teh amazing. Check em out... I am hugely in to collaborating with these people and I consider many of them among the most talented visual artists I've ever heard of. Click on their "technology" tab to see some amazing lasers that Sean Stevens built (i scored the video). Of course you can also link to Zebbler from there too, and preview some great large-scale stuff we've been working on as well. Jeff Mission, Sean Faherty, and Jen Rosselli are some of the other

amazing artists that are a part of the group- all worth checking out a sweet fix of eyepleasure!

To me personally, Glitch is a artform that relies on micro-repetious time phrasings and the aesthetic of technology exploitation or failure.

In my music, glitch essentially a sound that is repeated, distorted, or changed with varying levels of complexity at high speeds, usually conforming of rhythmic and harmonic context.

CONTEXT is the key ingredient to making a good glitch. It's an amazing acheivement when a moment in time is repeated so quickly that the time it represents breaks free of it's linearity. This is the asthetic to making an artform and instrument of high-speed looping techniques.

Hello. My name is Ben Cantil, aka Encanti.

This painfully typical -looking blog will now serve as a home of information and media feed for content and productions that I am involved with. Welcome to my antenna!

I am a producer of audio-related multimedia content. My production catalog features original multi-genre electronic music, as well as several excellent collaberations I am involved with. Originally from Kenai, Alaska, I currently live in Boston, taking residence with the local digital arts community, and performing live electronic music on a regular basis as Encanti.
